Amazon.com is seeking Application Engineers to join its Transaction Risk Management Services (TRMS) teamTRMS is responsible for ensuring that Amazon is the safest place to shop online and for protecting Amazon customers, partners and the company from online fraud and identity theft We are looking for candidates to join the Risk Platform Engineering Group and serve as an extension of the development team
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of one or more of our production systems through the following activities:
Monitoring of production applications, responding and root cause analysis of the alarms
Creating and/or implementing automated methods and tools to support the production applications
Collection and presentation of relevant application performance statistics
Release and Deployment of software to the production/test environment
Developing good software in an object oriented environment (C++/Java)
Troubleshooting and resolving problems in large scale distributed production systems
Debugging and fixing complex applications.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Strong troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and understand one or more of the following: Java, C++, Perl
Strong understanding of Linux/UNIX based operating systems
Experience writing SQL queries and good knowledge of database systems
Understanding of monitoring and metrics
Understanding of object oriented design
Experience working with customers and across multiple teams
Application development experience is a plus
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.
A degree in computer science or a relevant area with 1-3 years work experience.
