Digital Technology

The Digital Media Technology group is growing team of software innovators that serves as a digital media incubation lab for Amazon.com. We help drive and define Amazon's growth in new digital businesses across books, magazines, music, video and other categories - and help unlock the potential of digital goods.

We build unique and exciting digital experiences that delight our customers. Sometimes we create something amazingly useful, such as Search Inside the Book™, which helps millions of customers decide whether they want to purchase a specific book. Develop products such as Amazon Unbox™, Amazon Shorts™. Other times we develop customer experiences that are just plain fun like "Statistically Improbable Phrases". The common elements of our work include an eclectic set of rich media and taking what's possible with digital media to the next level.

The teams we have here in Chennai focus on building the foundation pieces of this virtual commerce enterprise. We have the Media Ingestion team which deals with terabytes of data. Develops work flows and Ingestion algorithms for dealing with various data formats.

We also, have the Subscriptions Services team that manages Amazon.com's recurring billing platform. The Subscriptions platform is growing rapidly and will be a foundation piece of new subscription-based businesses for Amazon.com.

In addition, we are looking at various product/application development activities in the virtual commerce space.
